Hello I would like some help if possible. I recently purchased this radio from an Ebay auction. After getting the radio hooked up to a 25 amp power supply it was noticed that it will only transmit 5 watts on any frequency and the same on AM or SSB. I know per the manual that it is supposed to be variable from 10 through 100 watts.Any help would be greatly appreciated as I will need to act quickly if this is not something simple. Thanks Rick

There are many Hams throughout the country that use only (QRP-5 watts or less) low-power.

Therefore, the possibility exists that this radio has had the power turned down "internally". You might want to call the previous owner and see if this is indeed the case.

If it isn't, then obviously there is a problem with the radio and he more than likely accidently-on-purpose failed to tell you about it. If so, then hire some bone-crushers to go visit with him for a while.

Icom has real good service manuals i'd also look
into that if you can find one it'll be real easy
to fix.

I'm not 100% sure but I seem to recall that then 720 may have had an internal switch for QRP but you'd need to check around.

Seems to me that radio is supposed to be 200 watts on SSB.
