Below is what I found for the Washington 8719 PLL.

How to add more channels

If pin 10 of the PLL is tied low, remove the ground and pull the pin high to go down 64 channels ! (as found in the Washington)
If the pin is tied high, remove the voltage and ground the pin to go up 64 channels !
The state of pin 10 depends on the country that you are in and how it has been modified for the frequencies that are used.
The loop crystal can also be changed to give you more bands of channels if needed, you can use my crystal switch to switch whatever crystals you use to give you the bands that you want.

Thanks for the responses...I have done the pll mod plus installed an expo kit..The only problem is the radio's not broadbanded enough to cover all the channels it now has. I seen a mod somewhere for broadbanding a Grant XL and was wondering if it could be done to the Washington as well. Thanks, Hooty |

Hey Hootyal
If you actually do come across a broadband modification for either the Washington or the Grant board, I would love to see it. I didn't know that one even existed for those two boards.

O.K. Jeffery,
It took some lookin but I found it for the Uniden Grant XL....Remove R206, parallel a 33K and a 2.2K 1/2 watt resistor together and reinstall into the vacant spot where R206 was removed. I have not tried this mod but it came from the grant lovers club.
I know these radios are simular, maybe just the location has been changed (to protect the innocent)???!!! |

I'm going to have to give this one a try.
Actually, it's really not needed after doing the frequency conversion at the chip since you are very limited to just a few frequencies above 40. But it will more than likely be more noticable when a frequency conversion is done with a after-market channel kit.
