Clark514, yes the 1011 can be moded to trans on 11 meter.I recently seen a website dedicated to the siltronix and swan equiptment.in there was the mods for all versions of the commanche.just do a web search and one of the results should prove fruitful! |

I'd stay away from it unless it is really cheap. Those radios are quirky, and they are getting so old now that they all need work, and if you don't know how to fix tube equipment, you will have a rough time with it. |

And they drift a lot, so be prepared to retune every few minutes after the radio warms up. |

And if you're planning on using it in the A/M mode, expect a massive downwards power swing. They were fun to play with on SSB if you didn't mind the drifting. Give it at least an hour to warm up before you use it. The warmer it is, the less drifting you'll notice. Other than that, they are a fun radio to play with on SSB. Jeff. |

Most Swan/Siltronics radios are JUNK. The 1011 was a attemp to sell a illeagal 100 watt cb set as a 10 meter radio no one bought that story. Another radio to avoid is a Swan-250 6 meter radio AKA the TOO-DRIFTY. If you must wast money on old radios get a kenwood or Drake TR-4 ..... OR buy something good .... Like a DX-70, FT-840 or some more current ham rig. |

Clark, the mic plug is divided into 3 sections, tip or very end ring in center sleeve largest portion The sleeve is shield and black ring is red and tip is white for the 1011d lock the vox switch in the norm posisition and imp switch in hi posisition. all this is assuming this is the Shure444d mic that siltronics used with the Commanche(2 tone grey and siltronics sticker below the ptt bar) |

I own Swan equipment. Very goooooood. I suggest that you get a cpu fan and wire it to the 12 volt side somewhere and cool the final. These cost a small fortune and are hard to find. Also do a search for Swan and get there email. A lot of guys still run this equipment and are very willing to help. Also every sun. there is a Swan net on 14.250 +/-. Tony, N5JVA |

A 1011 that DOSNT DRIFT AT ALL? Interesting..... Ask any oldtimer on 6 meters about the SWAN-250 .... AKA TOO DRIFTY! Swan radios were CHEEP and at best a beginers radio. In 1970 just before i bought my Drake line i had a 250 for a short time and for just a few days a HF swan ( If i remember it was a 350 ) After that it was one of the LAST radios I would ever want to own. You want a good radio? Buy a ICOM KENWOOD YAESU ! Just lissen om the bands and SEE what the BIG boys run. http://www.qrz.com/wa4gch
