Here where i live the so called radio repairman,
said that the super swing mod is just a gimmick
to get a person's money for something that did not work. The best why to get a lot of swing is to cut the limiter. I was told that by cutting
the limmiter it will burn parts up in a matter of
time. The reason Im asking this is I was thinking of doing a super swing mod to a 29 LTD. And I do
not know much about repairing radio's yet,
but IM trying to learn.

I personally would not do any "swing mods" or cut the limiter either. When you cut the limiter the radio sounds crappy, And just about any mod you do eventually breaks something else down in the radio. Give it a good tune with what is already inside the radio and that's all, Just my 2 cents.

If done properly, changing the final to a 2sc1969 transistor and beefing-up the associated components, will give good power-swing, sound great, and not cause interference...something a qualified tech should do.

the only reason I would cut the limiter is if the radio is very weak on mod, That is if you dont want to have it checked out by a tech. to see why it's weak to start with, Although the swing kits sound ok if it's done right.

first off do not "cut" the limiter simply pull one end of the diode from the board and install a 1k ohm in series with the diode this will allow the mod vr to adjust to 100% and still keep the limiter functional.

second the swing mod depending on witch one you are planing to install will work butt it is pointless unless you are planing on running a amp behind it.

bullfrog, you might want to check the dates of the threads you are replying to.

most of the people on them are not even active members anymore.

you will get many more replies by starting a new thread about the subject you wish to address.

this thread is about 2 years old. (also, we like to start new threads to preserve bandwidth)
welcome to the forum!
