is there a volt modification for the 2950dx and if there is could you tell me how to do it? i have seen how it is done on the v-9000 is it simular? i have already done the npc mod on my 2950dx it works great. any advice from one of you techs would be nice. you techs have always been there for me and others. thanks for your helping us.

If you do the NPC mod, there realy is no need for volting the finals. The whole notion of volting the finals in these radios, is to make the 2SB754 (Q66) run cooler...if that is a concern for you, it is easier just to replace it with a higher-tollerance 2SB817 (12A-at 100W) it will be cooler and not fail under long QSOs...otherwise, the mod is simmilar.

thanks for the info. i do want it to run cool. the parts seem to last longer that way. i will change the parts as you said. thanks once again for the great advice.

even if you do volt the finals, you will only get about 5 more peak watts out of the radio.

if you ssb, then you don't really need to upgrade the voltage reg. all the heat comes from am use where there is a higher voltage drop across the device.
