How high off the ground (minimum) should a single longwire be? Can I get away with a single (11M) wire running from the garage facia board (9ft) up to a tree about 25-30ft? |

A longwire needs to be as high as possible. Now, with that said, sometimes it is not possible to get it very high. I have a longwire at 13 feet AGL at the fed end and 15 feet AGL at the other end. It works fine for receive. No longwire will work very well for transmit. Too much ground absorption. |

I have heard people all over talk on wire, some long wire, some inverted V. I would like to put one up to talk 75 meter, which would be best? |

Well my wife and I have been talking (just talking...) about moving back to the City some day. I have got to come up with a very good citified antenna or I'm NOT moving! |

Baloney she won't mind..... you're trying to get me in trouble! I already have an antenna farm... 4 element quad on a tower, with 2M and 70cm above that, GAP Challenger 8 band 32ft vertical behind the garage on the ground (maybe that'l work?), SW long wire from the house back 100ft to a tree, scantenna on the same mast as the TV antenna... did I mention the two satellite dishes? My wife says I'm obsessive??? |

Hey don't forget that the guys wire can be insulated from the tower and used as an extra antenna. Pulled that one on my parents for quite a few years, along with the loop under the 25ft high back patio.
Dad always wondered why I'd offer to paint the patio when it needed doing. |
