I saw that the Antron 99 says it will perform from 10-12 meters without tuning but mine will only cover 12 and 11. Not that I mind, but what I would rather have is 10 and 11. When I tune the 99 to 10 and 11 meters, the SWR doesn't cover the 10 meter band, but what really bothers me is the power loss in the 11 meter range. My RCI 2970 drops dead key by about 40 - 50% midway through the 11 meter band. Is this normal for the A 99 and will the Imax 2000 do better coverage with less loss?

Thanks
Bob

Maybe I should have asked if the I-Max 2000 is as broadbanded withouth the loss of the A-99?

I also should have noted the SWR that seems to give me the best performance is with the rings all the way down with the SWR at 27.385.0 at near 1.8.1. If I lower the SWR below 1.5.1 at 27.385.0 the power drops to about half... I do not under stand the power drop...

When comparing the I-Max and the A-99, the I-Max 2K is a far better performing antenna than the 99---hands down.

Read the reviews on both of them in the subscriber Preview section of the Forum.

Thanks Jeff.

I made some phone calls and was told the primary load was probably bad in my A-99 and it was time to replace the antenna so I went ahead and ordered the Imax 2000.

I bought the A-99 used and it never did perform all that well. The SWR was hard to get flat over the regular 40 and then when I noticed the power loss on the new RCI I wasn't sure what the deal was because as I said earlier, I could get the SWR down on the upper Freq's but when I did I lost a lot of power. Anyway, it's taken care of. I should have the I-Max here in a few days and hopefully life will be good.

Thanks again for the input I really appreicate your help. Bob

Hey Bob. You're just gonna love this 24 foot I-Max/2K.

Let me know how the broadbanding works out when you're checking the SWR thoughout the bands. You're going to have more frequencies to play with now without the SWR starting to climb.
