I was wondering if anyone knows where I canget decent used radio tech equipment? Would like to get a signal generator,and maybe an oscilliscope. And if any of the techs could recomend any other equipment I would need, what would be good or would be overkill. I am on a moderately tight budget so will have to go the used route. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Only if you get to use it i got rid of most of mine. I DID keep a miller GDO, my BIRD, but 2, 5 in scopes sat for almost 20 years untill the garbageman hauled them away.
At the shop i work at we use a $12000 teststation built in scope and generator but one of my jobs is to keep 1300 ICOM HT's going. DON'T buy unless you are going to use it and IF you buy get a good one.

I found a Rf Signal Generator, it is used but works fine. It has variable frequency from 100Khz to 30 Khz. I was wondering if this is an ok model for a starter? |

Lasthighlander...I hope you meant 100MHZ to 30Hz or perhaps 100KHz to 30MHz. What is the model number? |

we now only use service monitors and i have a set of older test equipment. it is all hp equipment. audio gen, rf gen, freq counter...the only thing missing is the scope, we still use it. the scopes in service monitors are only good for tracing audio.
hey bruce, you may want to get up with me about warranty work on your icoms. we are now doing it (and out of warranty) for some of the units at fort dragg. |
