this radio works great-BUT--- there is a bad squawl
noise right at the squelch threshold. if you work the squelch a little to keep it at the threshold,
it will keep squawling. if a big enough signal hits it, it will squawl just for a second and be ok . this noises is very loud. any info on a fix would be wonderful. thanks |

Sorry, I cant help you on this one as I have never owned or worked on any of the soundtracker radios.
Maybe one of our other Techs or Forum Members can offer you some help with this.

well, that's ok. thanks for coming back to me anyway. i have never had to fix a squelch problem on
any radio. this is a new one on me. i'll keep digging. thanks again.

Just out of curiousity, does this (as you put it) squawling noise appear only when the Soundtracker is turned on or is it there even when it's turned off?

ya, it does it either way. if it gets a good signal,
it sounds more like a loud chirp at the squelch point. i have also just noticed, it only does it with an external speaker hooked up. i tried 3 external speakers. all of them do it. the internal speaker does not seem to do it. what do you think? |
