I have been told a few things from various people, I was wondering if they were true, Here are the questions...

1. What happens if you coil your Coax? What does it do?

2. Can you Key a radio up, without an antenna, and will it harm your radio?

3. Guied Wires hurt if they are grounded? Or does it matter? And could they be used as a groundplane?

1) It will act as a choke to RF comming from the antenna

2) both YES and NO a well designed radio has protection built in.

3) properly done they can be used as a groundplane

Roger, exactly as the name implies.a coax coil choke below the antenna will reduce or block rf energy from traveling back down the transmission line and being radiated as tvi.that is probley the simplest answer.the attenuation of the choke is dependant on variables such as diameter of loops, number of turns or loops, frequency and size of conductor.confused yet?
