833, thanks for the article on the antennas. So unconfuse me. You stated that a cb antenna will not work with shortwave due to band width. so how do these guys take these export radios in their mobiles and use them for cb and ham? Sorry sir, but I don't understand based on your article. Thanks.

Hi Keith.

I do not want to make you a ham. CB is O.K. too, as long as you mix in some shortwave listening.

A CB base station antenna will work well on and very near the CB band, like from 25 to 29 MHz. or so. The 'export' radios operate well within this range. However, if you try and listen on the 13 meter band (around 10 MHz.), the CB antenna will be pretty deaf. 'Export' radios and shortwave are not in the same ballpark, they aren't even the same game.
