I am running a sadelta echo master plus mic on an RCI 2990. There is a terrible squeal. Even if I turn the mic gain on the radio and mic down to a 2 it still squeals. When I key the mic my
external meter (RF power scanner pdc 600) says at a dead key that my radio is doing 90 watts when my power is set at 30 watts. Also when I talk there is no swing on the meter. I have a d 104 handheld mic when I use it everything is fine lots of forward swing and no squeal. Does anybody have a clue what the problem is? I've tried putting a fresh battery in.

maybe that element in the mic is going going gone... is it a sedealta echo master plus II or the original echo master with the flat head? |

try grounding the microphone
i have had that problem
try it it works
you can run a wire to chasis
of the mis to a screw on the radio
hope it works for you
it worked on mine

Whenever I get my mic near my RF power scanner
meter my mic squeals real bad. Does anybody know what might cause this? I've never experienced this before. Only with this Sadelta mic.

i dont know what cause's it. but i know with my galaxy version of the mic i had to ground the mic cause i was getting the same problem... there is the screw on the bottom of the mic right next to where you put the 9v battery, that is the grounding point for that mic, try it out see if it works.. if you have your radio grounded, just connect a wire from the mic to the radio where you have it grounded. if try to find some other way..

I found out my problem. It had something to do with my coax cable. It wasn't tight or connected just right. After pulling it off twice and reconnecting it the mic works fine now. My SWR's have come way down too. I'm gonna try and not disconnect it anymore. Hope hurricane season is better next year. If this happens again I'll know what the problem is next time.
