I have a friend that needs to hide his antenna in a tree. The problem is that it cannot be sticking out the top in plain view. What would you advise for an antenna, and how well will it work with only about 1 or 2 ft. above the tree. I would also like to know if the antenna can be painted.

Thanks:

Sounds like a stealth situation is in order...

Painting an Imax 2000 or Antron 99 is fine, no problem AS LONG AS you use the 'epoxy' or lacquer spray paints. Having the tip of the antenna a foot above or even a foot below the top of the tree will make no difference. Be prepared to see SWR fluctuation with moisture.
