Well if the radio keys up but has no output power it may be the final transistor at fault. The final goes bad after being stressed IE: bad antenna match, etc (in case you didn't know)

well thats what i thought ,although my antenna match is good 1.2 to 1.5 i can't figure out what would have caused it to go bad, other than age.would you know where to go on the web to find a schematic for this radio? Thanx

no I don't, sorry
a bad solder joint can be caused by a lot of things, hard to say.
