I just hooked up a volar dominator on the roof of my truck. the receive is good but the trasnmit is lacking. it is replacing a wilson 500 which i still have and the radio Galaxy 979 worked great.Would a bad ground cause the valor to not trasmit well? Also I notice that the power scale slams all the way to the right with valor. thanks for any reply. 619

you've got a very high swr most likely. yes a bad ground will cause this. make sure there is no paint where you are grounding the antenna and check your coax connections. you should be using an external swr meter for this.

I checked the swr,s with my meter and the best i could get was 2.5 on ch1 and 3.0 on ch 40? So i took the whip off of the wilson 500 and put it on the valor and the swr's dropped to below 1.5 on ch 1 and ch 40 . the wilson whip was about 3 inches taller. PROBLEM SOLVED!
