I am aquiering another PDL-2 and was thinking of stacking them, I only think of this cause I heard it is good to stack antennas.
anyway I dont know anything about doing it so could someone enlighten me and give me some ideas on how to do it and if it would be worth doing.
if not a good idea then I will just keep it as a spare.

Forget it! I did a search and was not happy with what I found.to much work and to big (24ft).
I would rather just get a bigger beam.

back in late 70's, a gent from ch 6 stacked 2pdl's here on LI, snowstorm removed 'em, along with a section of roof. so, with insurance $ in hand, he stacked 2 moonraker 6's. yes, 31feet long and and nearly 40 feet wide. on 3 sections of rohn tower and no rotor. BIG was an understatement, and it never tuned right, but maco 300 made it sound awesome nonetheless. he moved to NC, had used a homemade flatside beam, how many elements-don't remember, but it was over 50 feet long, and had a gyzmotchy also over 50 feet long after the homemade came down. no longer into radio...i wonder why! |

Stacking 2 beams can be worth the effort IF the supporting structure can handle it .. It would give you 3db more gain , and a tighter pattern . I know of one guy who stacked 2 pdl's . they were on a 50ft tower with a hell of a strong mast and cross boom . the cross boom had stand-offs in the middle and stranded wires {like guy wire for towers} in a diamond arrangement both up and cross ways for support .. a hell-of-alotta work for 3db.
