ok I don't know whats up with this recieve. It came like this out of the box. I turn the squelch back until the noise stops but peoples signals have to be way strong for anything to get through. It's weird and just acting funny. My frineds uniden pc68 did it to. Do i need to have a tech look at this. Or can I just open the squelch up a little more. I think I should just be able to turn the squelch and open it up. But i wanted to ask you guys b4 i broke something

Audiophile73,

Ok, we NEVER use the Squelch on any of our radios as when you do you are LIMITING who you will be able to hear/receive.

And if we had the squelch on then I might miss a CEF Radio Club member calling from way out in DX land.

Is it noisy at times with the squelch completely off YES, but then again we do not miss anyone who is trying to contact us if we can hear them over the skip.

The Squelch control is working Properly.

If you want to hear all signals and anyone who may shout at you then turn it completely OFF!

Your radio and your friends radio is working just fine and as they were designed to work when using the Squelch control.

Only the individual radio operator who is using the radio can determine Who or What they want to hear when using / adjusting the Squelch control.

Hope this helps,

Lon

Audiophile 73, does your radio have the dynamic squelch control switch? If so, and you use it, you will ONLY hear close signals. Keep it turned off and you will be fine. If you turn the normal squelch knob just past where the radio goes silent, you should pick up most signals. However, Lon is right, if you turn it up too much, you won't hear hardly anything at all.
