I found my manual for my Allied Radio Model 2508 8 Band Radio. In addition to AM and FM, it has the following: Long Wave Band: 150 - 400 khz Short Wave Bands: 5.9 - 6.25 Mhz. 9.45 - 9.85 Mhz 11.45 - 12.00 Mhz 15.05 - 15.55 Mhz Public Service Band: 152 - 176 Mhz I bought this in Sept., 1973 for $50.00. As I have mentioned on earlier post about this radio, at night it really looks neat, as the display is mainly in blue with orange lines. I bring this radio back up, in case someone should say, Keith check out this frequency at a certain time of day or night. It really is neat. So how about it? Based on frequencies that I have listed above, anyone have any suggestions? I have listened to it for years. It picks up stations from all over the world, and usually in foreign lanquage. One great thing about it is this: it will list names of cities or countries from around the world on the actual display! However, sometimes they do speak in English. I hope someone who reads this gets as much enjoyment out of it as I did writing this. Thanks. Keith in Atlanta CEF 150 |

Keith, My favorite bands are between 9.45 and 9.85 and also your 11.45 to 12.00 range. At night, nothing satisfies like the 5.9-6.25 range on your dial. |

Hey Paul. Thanks for the information on the best bands to try. I have gone across them all at different times, including the day time here. It amazes me how much I can pick up from overseas or should I say all over the world with just a little bit of wire strung up against the wall!!!! Just think if I put up a real big antenna! Anyway, I still enjoy it from time to time, not so much as content, but just to see where signals are coming in from. I will concentrate on those two bands you mentioned, and see where it takes me.
