I have a Galaxy CB in the car. My question may be stupid but how do you get more than 12 volts out of a 12 volt system [car]. The installation instructions stated connecting up to 13+ Volts. I thought the electrical panel in the car was all 12 volt. I have it connected to the fuse panel. BTW Everything is working fine, just wanted to know. |

IF you check your car with the motor running, it's probably 14+ volts. |

I hope it's not too far over 14 volts. The battery would dry up fast and it wouldn't be safe to be near the car with an open flame. Most alternators have their voltage regulators set to between 13.5 and 14 volts. At rest the battery will probably show about 12.5 volts or so depending on the temperature and it's actual physical construction. |

I've checked several on the battery terminals with the motor running that were 14.4 to 14.6 volts. I got to noticing after setting the output of a mobile on a power supply so not to overdrive an amp, then in the vehicle it would change quite a bit. A different antenna/load and more voltage will change things. I was volting and not even knowing it. |
