Hello,
I have a Cobra 148 NWST but there is no tx. I used to have this unit installed in my truck and I believe the connection at the ant. was the demise of this radio. Got all corroded. Any information on how to fix would be helpful along with parts needed. Or would I be better to send to someone for repair.

Well, crossed the # over to an ECG236 Transistior, put it in, now have tx back but only putting out a little over 1 watt. Should radio have to be "re-tuned" for that final? or should I have went with the 2sc1969 one that is shown in the schematic fo rthe 148 gtl st? Or is there possibly something else wrong also. Any help will be appreciated. Also, that I know of it is a stock radio no mods |

Try the original part number. NTE, ECG, Etcetera are cross references that will work, but sometimes not perfectly. I always try to go back to original parts unless they are now comprised of unobtanium. Also check the bias supply and drive circuitry, If a transistor shorts sometimes it takes these out too.
