Was this antenna ever review by Tech 833? I thought he was going to write an "Exposed" article on it?

What exactly does this antenna look like???
I have a Shakespeare Big Stik antenna here,
it is about 18' Long & is in 2 pieces, has
a black rubber boot that slides down over
where the 2 sections connect.
My Imax 2000 blows this antenna away that
i have here as i tested them at same height.
Not sure what model of Stik i have though.

This is not the Big Stik model i have.
As i see its 3 pieces & 21ft long.
As for 12 DBI gain, don't go by that!
I would say, Imax 2000 would have a slight
better edge over the Shakespeare NBS 2010.
Are these NBS 2010 antennas still even being
built??? I thought Shakespeare discontinued
all there base Antennas.

Hey Bruce I see 12.5 on the spec sheet and it says it right there, in English, "isotropic."
The reference is the little 'i' in dbi. Did you miss that little 'i' in there too?

The number 12.5 may be in question, but the reference 'i' is not. Do you find it hard to believe that some good ol' CB'ers out there will lie thru their teeth, listen to lies, or get lied too?

It just advertising, bud.

Just checked the search section on here and the last time this antenna was mentioned TECH 833 was still reviewing it. TECH 833 will you ever finish this report? I know the NBS2010 is now stopped in production but we would still like to see the the results.

Just got off the phone with Tech833 / Paul.
Tech833@copperelectronics.com

Tech833 / Paul did No Review on the SHAKESPEARE NBS2010 Antenna.

The Forummaster did send him one to review but since SHAKESPEARE stopped production there was no need for Tech833 to spend his personal time or money doing a review on an antenna that was no longer being produced.

Sorry but there are No results to see,

Lon

Below is information from Tech833 he e-mailed me in Response to a Forum Members Question.

*****

I am keenly aware of the design of the 2010, as I had one sent to me which
was damaged in shipment to another customer, so I was able to tear it all
apart and make several measurements and observations. The only trouble is,
the 2010 was discontinued before I was able to acquire one that was not
shredded into pieces so I could spin it on the test range. The review was
also not posted because there was now no longer a need since it was
discontinued.

You could easily model this antenna on EZNEC and get a good idea of the
pattern.

Thank you,
'Tech 833'

Get the Imax 2000 with gp/kit and smile. Works wonders up there around 60+ feet at base and with good coax. Don't do like a guy I know in town and run 150+ feet of rg-58 moblie coax. He still wonders why he can't hear the things I hear.

I've had one of these for years. My "Army Stick" was hit by lightning & I was told by Shakespeare that one was being discontinued for the 2010. It's never been anything but GREAT! - after putting 100' of coax on it that is. Too bad this one is gone too. That "isotopic" figure is in a perfect computer model world you know - it's 5/8's, 4000w no-tune & I still like it.

It is not 5/8. It is a 3/8 wave element over a 1/4 wave sleeve. However, the total combined elements length does measure 5/8 wave.

The regular 'Big Stick' (2 section antenna) was a 1/4 wave element over a 1/4 wave sleeve.

I don't know a whole bunch about mobile CB antennas. I have little experience with individual types. I can give you tips based on design, but I do not know them by name.

the I-10k is a base antenna.i believe there was a review for it.looks to be built very well would probaly outlast the maco.for performance id say it would be fairly close to the maco maybe a slight edge to the 10k.heard recieve is much quieter on 10k.for me 2 buy one it would have to come down in price about a hundred dollars

O.K., I remember now!

Yes, I wrote a report on the I-10K a while back after having one on the antenna test range.

Let's see how much I remember... I found it to be quite strong and well built. No, it will not outperform the Maco V-5/8. The 10K 'trombone' tuning network allowed a great deal of current to be present around the bottom of the antenna which slightly distorted the pattern. However, the 10K 'top hat' really helped flatten the upward radiation tendency, and made up for nearly all of that current lobe distortion. In my opinion, it will perform very equal to the Maco V-5/8, with the very slightest advantage to the Maco for those dealing with near-field saturation TVI troubles.

I have an I-10k. Main reason why i bought
it was strength as other antennas have
failed me in the past.
Other than that it's a 5/8 wave antenna.
I have NO TVI issues with mine where i live here. It replaced a Imax 2000 which was giving me TVI/RFI grief.

Dale-If you have a TV with a antenna, try a
good high pass filter on TV and a good
TVI low pass filter on your cb radio.
GPK on Imax may help also.
Just some thoughts:
