Just wondering about opinions or experiences with a Galaxy DX45T. I know that there is no freq meter or SSB, but was wondering if anyone knows about performance, problems, etc.

Red Fish I have heard nothing but good remarks about this radio. I have talked to a couple of drivers over the road who use them and they sound great and are very pleased with them!! |

Good radio, but for an AM only mobile I would go with the Magnum S3

time out. are we talking dx48t or dx45mp? the 48t uses a builtin 2-2290 amp for the ole 50 watt key/150 watt swing. the 45mp is exactly the same radio with dual 1969's only. the S3 is $50 less then the closer-to-equal 45mp which has backlit face plate but NO compressor/topgun feature & that galaxy receive that i so dread. in that comparison it's the S3, hands down. as for the 48t, you'll get the extra wattage for an extra $190, but you still get that gruesome galaxy receive. & stepping up to a dx500 is a whole heap easier with the S3 then the 48t.

How can the ears be that bad on the Galaxy 48T? You'd think a high performance radio would receive excellent as well. Just how much better are the ear on the Magnum than the 48T?

I have a Galaxy 95T and the receive is fine. I have it hooked up to the same antenna as my Magnum S45, and don't notice any difference. I also had a Galaxy 88, and the receive was also good. |

I also run the 95T and the recieve is the same as my buddies S3 and is better then another guys General Lee and to top it all off my 95T blows the other radios away in loudness and distance. We all run wilson 5000's and the same coax. |

Its funny, my first civilian DX was on a dx-959 and it sounded good. I will admit that the feq drifted -Galaxy has improved the clarifier since then. Now most even have coarse and fine adjustments and supposedly they don't drify in the newest boards. Tjere is a mod for the old boards.
Many people swear by the SSB audio operation of the Galaxy Base station based on that same main board.
I wish I had nine back -while I thinj the best I have ever heard in a civilian radio is the RCI 2950 DX, I sure did like my Galaxy.
Now -all I hear is bad press about Galaxy?

I just bought a DX-48T with big meter to use in the house for a loud base am radio. Hope it delivers. If copper does its usually great mods, I know this radio will blow the socks off the neighborhood!
