This is just a stab in the dark, but here goes..

Look on the back of your FT-101E and see if you see a little round plug that is plugged into the radio itself.

If you just see a round female receptacle (with pins showing)on the radio, you are missing the accessory plug, and the Yaesu won't transmit without it even though it will receive fine.

This happened to me once... :-(

If you replace the tubes in that rig, make sure the bias is set with the new tubes, or they will not work correctly.

There's a lot of good info concerning that radio at Foxtango ..
Changing tubes will usually require that the neutralization also be adjusted.

Best way to tell is to use an external wattmeter. With the radio's meter set to "IC", tune the radio up normally. Rock the Plate Tune knob, slowly either side of the "peak" spot on the wattmeter. You should see the IC reading on the radio's meter "DIP", or drop to a minimum reading AT THE EXACT SAME SPOT on the Plate Tune knob.

If you get the wattmeter peak at ONE position, and the "DIP" at another position, the finals are not neutralized.

If both the wattmeter peak and the IC-meter 'dip' occur at the exact, same spot on the Plate Tune, you're good to go. No need to adjust further.
