Well, I have made a purchase that will change me life.

A friend who is hard up for cash called me. And offered a 1988 528E BMW to me. There are very few cars I would want to own. But a BMW is on the list of cars that I would want to own before I die.

BMW

This is a pic of the car, but not mine. Mine is gray like the one on the top. It needed a tune up and brakes. So it is at the garage. I did take it to work Tuesday, just because I had to! I should have it back by the weekend.

Did I mention I LOVE IT, or that I got for just 900 bucks!?! SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!
Now do I put a CB in it or not?!

Shure - why not? You may want to go with a low key installation such as a Wilson 1000 (magnet or lip mount) on the trunk for appearances. Or you could make yourself the center of attention by putting a 102" whip and spring right in the middle of the roof. I've never drilled through the roof of a BMW so I don't know how thick the metal is, but you can add some reinforcement on the bottom side so it doesn't flex too much.

Good luck!

May be buying a Honda Civic Si tomorrow!!!! Congrats!!! I haven't bought a car in 8 years, I'm 32 and still driving my second vehicle (I drive them till the wheels fall off or the burn to the ground, the last one burnt at 280,000)

I have always liked that body style of BMW, very timeless, a sharp one looks like it could be produced today and seems some custom builders are going back to those types of lines.

I'm in the same boat as you, Got the radio figured out, another mag 257 flushed right under an aftermarket stereo (gotta have my XM). BUT I have to change the blue back to orange to match, but don't want an older one!!!

Antenna is my problem, glass mount would be cool but I'd be better off yelling out the window. Have to find something cool. Will be checking back when I have it.

Nice BMW! German engineered vehicles tend to last a L-O-N-G time, so it appears that you got a great deal!

Blaupunkt made a CB back in the early '80s. It might be neat if you could locate one as it is German - Just like your BMW! (I believe the unit was an in-dash am/fm/cb, which was optional in Mercedes and BMWs.)

Believe it or not, I had a 1978 Linclon Mark V that had an optiopnal Ford AM/FM/CB in it. I think that most of the car manufacturers got into offering CBs back then...

Sodapop, now that BMW is made in Greer, SC, you could install your radio, drive down there, and
"fit" right in with the locals.

Well this BMW was made in Canada. It wasn't sold in the US. Someone brought it here. The paperworks shows this. But it's here now, and I plan on enjoying it!

They have not been made that long in America.

Enjoy it man! I have my radio inside with ab 8 gauge power tap to the battery for power and mount the radio with a flexible mount on the passengers side. Wilson 1000 mag mount on top of my 93' 325 IS. Many a long highway drive made much more fun by brining my rig. Just use the mag mount so you can remove it quickly and enjoy a well made car my friend!
