It needs a battery? Do you keep it connected to power and only turn off it's switch, or do you disconnect it from power when not using it?

It's not an EEPROM if it requires a battery. It's got to be some kind of RAM. Try keeping it connected to power and just turning it off. See if that makes the battery last longer. I'll bet it does.

I have a 2510 with a Chipswitch, and it doesn't like to be disconnected from power for very long. Chipswitches are a pain to program over and over again, so I made up a little adapter to connect a 9v battery to the power plug when it's out of my car for more than a couple days. I can let it disconnected for months at a time if I want to.

I kept it connected to 13.8 continuous. This last battery lasted 12 days.Would anyone know how I can pick up 3V off the board somewhere..or alternately what resistance would I need to lower 13.8 to 3V and feed the memory from power in...as long as it is hooked up it would then retain memory...please i beg of youall help me

in desperation

Does any tech out there know what value resistor I need to bring 13.8V down to 2.5-3V?
I need a solution and this route is an option
Thanx

in my 2950 i just use 2AA's get a holder from radioshack and solder the wires to the connections on the back of the pll board. mine has a 9v connection to the battery holde for easy cover removal and the battery pack is glued to the case right in front of the speaker works great! also even with the power disconnected from the radio if you do not turn the power knob off the backup will go dead fast! hope this helps! 73's chris
