When I Keyed Up My Radio The Freq. Counter Said 17.290
What Frequency is that....

I would not talk there, Maritime has a band 16.360 to 17.410

Sonny is right! If you visit the fcc website, you will find that they just nailed a couple of hunters for using VHF marine radios (to the tune of $10,000), They take a dim view of fooling around on the maritime frequencies! HF or otherwise!

I hope i miss read you and your NOT thinking of using that radio ILLEAGALY? Remember if it's not CB the FCC DOES care. Also That radio is just off the 17 meter band and on 17 i can work the world with 100 watts ...... center of the state or not your ASKING for trouble. Also if you get caught UNLIKE CB you will not get a warning they WILL fine you.

It could just be a bad reading on the frequency counter too.
