I have wanted one of these since they came out. I would love to get one, with the extra channels in it. Been thinking of trading the 5010 for one. Just for something new, I need to play with a new radio I think. So anyone have one? How do you like it if you do?

I heard the display went out after so many hours on them.

I love mine, It has been on many hours as during the winter I did not shut it off to combat drift. No display problems yet. VERY easy to get around, etc.

Duck:

That display is bullet proof, same as the 959, if I am not mistaken. And cheap to replace if it goes out -and the channel indicator is there if it does.

Mods for that radio are well documented too.

If I ever own two base radios again, this one gets my vote for #2.

The radio IS a 959 in a chasis, easy to work on and has a substantial power supply. In nitpicking my only complaint is that the volume control gets too loud too fast at the lower end, no big deal for me if that's the ONLY thing I can complain about.

Do have it alligned by Copper or allign it when you get it. Mine was off out of the box but after allignment it has held in there well..
