Yes. It's as simple as can be. Just move the wire.

Justlow, on mine, moving the wire didn't do the trick. I did just as the instructions said. I did feel around with one end of the wire till I got channel 19 going and of course I had 40 channels but that's all. Wish I had tried the fm conversion first. But I still can't find X3 grid. I looked and looked at both sides of the board. I was getting a lot of feedback with my dm-452 mic so I wired a handheld d-104 to it and fixed that problem. Maybe I'll get all the frequencies going soon. BTW, I have a cold-heat battery powered soldering gun and it works great on boards.

I think when you "felt around with the wire until you got Ch. 19", you soldered the wire in the wrong place. I'd double check the mod diagram with what you did, and make sure it's in the right place.

Mike,
X3 is not the grid location,X3 is the crystal you need to replace for the fm conversion.its location is grid E-3.if you go to cb tricks and look up the drawing of the mainboard parts side layout, you will see numbers across the top and letters down the side of the board drawing.find 3 at the top, come down level with letter E and approx.where those lines intersect you will see 2 crystals.the one on the left is X2 and the one on the right is X3.hope this helped a little.

I'm beginning to agree with you Ptazerozero. We'll get it going one day. You'd think someone here would be interested enough to explore how I could misplace a wire that is supposed to be so simple.

There was a member on here that was blind and he regularly misplaced wires when soldering,he did everything by feel and he was pretty good at doing his own mods, but once in awhile everthing would go poof.I would name him but he may be offended, thinking I'm making fun of him which I'm not.Bigbob

Yeah, Bigbob, I've got that concern also. Certainly don't want to fry a $400 radio. Perhaps my board is somehow different from others. It doesn't exactly look like the picture for sure. I'll leave well enough alone until I am certain as to what to do to open up the rest of the bands. I should be thankful I could getit to do 11 meters which is where I talk 99.9% of the time.

Once you get it set up right you will love it , I must admit i got a little sick of the internal echo controls so I had a knob off a connex board mounted on the side ,So no more opening up the radio to adjust the echo, I will post pics of it later.

Mikefromms, why don't you e-mail tech 808 and see if you can send him a photo of your board and how you have it soldered,if it's a different board I'm sure he'll tell you, heck if it's the right board he may be able to point out the correct hole to put the wire. You see sometimes when you look at the board with varying light it can look quite different and glare from the solder can be annoying and if you're fatigued it's even worse,I speak from experience.Bigbob

Bigbob,

Thank's but I doubt I could be of any help to mikefromms on it and I do not even have the schematics for one.

I have never even seen an actual 93 or 95T or even know of anyone around here who owns one.

Personally for what they cost I would of had the conversion done by copper to keep it under the galaxy factory warranty.

They are just too darn expensive to play around with if something gets messed up and voids the factory warranty.

If you smoke it doing the conversion I doubt galaxy will cover it.

It would be pretty hard to smoke the 95T converting it. You move a single wire about 1/8th of an inch.
Converting it will not void your warranty either. Mine has already been sent back to Galaxy Repair to take care of some issues that it had out of the box, that I wasn't happy with.

mikefromms,

I spoke with Paul the Copper Tech and he suggested re-checking your connection point when you moved only one end of the wire and make sure it is correct.

He also mentioned you could have possibly shorted the CPU out by touching (feel around) the different traces as you mentioned in your above post.

If you would like to send it back to copper he will be happy to look at it for you and all it would cost you is the conversion fee if he is able to do the conversion.

He has never heard of this type of problem before as after the conversion you should have had coverage from 25.165 thru 28.755

However if there is a problem with the radio it will be returned to you and you will then need to return it to Galaxy for repair.

Since you broke the Warranty Seal that was placed on the radio from Copper, that Voided your Copper Warranty but not the Galaxy Warranty.

Galaxy would then have to determine what the problem is and decide if it would be repaired under their factory warranty for you.

You might try contacting Galaxy and see what they have to say.

No offense to copper, but I took it to a local tech I just discovered. I'm very impatient. So, I didn't want to wait 2 weeks to get it back. Anyway, it's going now and I'm a happy customer.

Mikefromms,

It was tested and working when the warranty seal was placed on it and left Copper, so I am quite sure Copper is happy that you have it fixed and working.

Let us know how you like it.

I'm very happy with the 95T. It is top of the line. I'm king of the hill (or at least share it) in my neck of the woods. Just bought a 80 foot tower today, too. One day the Imax will come out of the pine tree and make its home on a nice tower.

WHOOPS!! there goes that twitchy finger again!
so what happened, mike? was your mod done incorrectly or is there something different that needs to be done now??? even us non-galaxy aficionados learn from the mistakes of others! i mean your incorrect modding, not just that you bought a galaxy!
if it works & YOU like it, then it was money well spent!!good luck!!

It should key 50 and swing 150 right out of the box on am. I'd move that standby frequency away from 10 meters. Just some caring advise. Welcome aboard.
