ok I have a rci 2950 been sitting a while hooked it up and a person said he could here me key up but no sound TX .also it skips channels 5 and 10 at a time .when turning channel knob I am no tech so I guess it's off to the shop .thank you Ron Cap't Hook

hey capt. hook,
these radios are notorious for skipping channels when tuning with the knob. ive never seen one that doesnt do it. there was someone on this forum who mentioned a fix for it but i dont remember what it was. try doing a search for "channel skip", or "rci2950".
as for the no modulation, there are many possibilities, but the most likely is a broken wire in the mic cord or at the connector inside the radio. beyond that, unless the mic just needs a new battery, you need to have some electronics knowledge to find the problem.

Ron,
does it still channel up and down correctly with the buttons on the mic?I pretty sure the "fix" Matt was referring to was to remove the knob and spin the ch switch with a cordless drill for about a minute.do not spray wd-40 or any kind of tuner cleaner into the switch,it will remove any grease put there to keep the contacts from oxidizing.
