Any comments on this radio? I am interested in buying this from Copper. Anything besides color display that is better than the old version with the amber display? |

I own and use the "older" Magnum 257, and I think it is a better radio than the RCI 2950, which I use to regard the best.
I especially like the memory channels switching modes (2950 didn't do that) and the thing is a far better transmitter both AM and SSB. Reception is probably the same, which is saying a lot. And the Claifier works better.
The Microphone, although too small for my taste is by far better sounding that my D-104 Night Eagle (which I sold) and can really modulate with the need for a Power Mic.
If the NEW one is better, I don't want to know about it! LOL... Blue lights or not. |

It's a killer radio, I do not like the blue lights mobile at night, it seems to kill your eyes, on the bench though the blue is cool. Trendy or not blue just is not good at night IMHO. I have never had a bad report and it's simply amazing on SSB performance. I say it's the best bang for the buck around!

Does this have the CP1 SPEECH COMPRESSOR ?
I was reading the specs on the copper product page and it does not show it?
