FROM WHAT I GATHER THE MACO COMET JUST SEEMS TO BE TWO MACO M-103 BEAMS ON THE SAME BOOM. HAS ANYONE OUT THERE RUN THIS BEAM AND ARE THEY ABOUT THE SAME AS TWO M-103'S |

Looking at it it seems that it is 2 m-103's on the same boom. That said nothing wrong with that. On short yagi arrays the gains are predictable with a 3 elm antenna like this giving about 6 DBD foward gain ( 4 X power ) with a frount to back of 20 DB or even more. |

the only true quads out there for cb are signal engineering & cubex-as far as i know. yes, the macos/wilsons/ even old moonrakers are really just cross/dual polarized yagis.
i built a 3 element(comet-clone) from my y-quad just before the comet was made available in the 70's. it worked GREAT! smallish size was more then effective enough for dx both SSB & AM with stock radios. |

The Comet can be run in the Verticle or
Horz position. Vericle for local talking,
Horz for dx conditions.
It should perform the same as a Maco 103.
But, the maco 103 can only be mounted Verticle
if you wish, or Horz.
The Comet is the best of both worlds.
