HI I GOT STUCK WITH A OPEK DM 452 MIC WHO MAKES THE GOOD ONES.IT WILL NOT WORK ON MY RCI 2990
PLEASE TELL ME WHAT UP WITH THIS MIC |

I heard that they are all made at the same factory in Ohio.I don't know if that is fact or fiction just something I heard.I've used 3 with 2 different names and they all worked great.Maybe you have a bum mic? |

THE ONE I HAVE IS MADE IN TAIWAN BY OPEK IT STINKS. I MAY TRY A SUPER STAR DM 452 OR WORKMAN DM 452 BUT I NEED MORE INPUT BEFORE I SHELL OUT MORE MONEY. |

I have two also and both are great, I get very good reports with them. I bought them from copper and I recomend you get your next 452 from them and you will be happy.

there is a whole bunch out there.. superstar,aries opek,workman, and one other one i cant think of, the best ones i have used out of the above is the super star an the aries.. i think the areis sound a little better, but that could have been just a fluke.. |

I have the Aries and when I first started using it in the mobile everyone kept asking if I was on my base (Cobra 2000 with echo board [trb1?]). Very nice mic. |

FWIW, I just picked up an Opek DM-452, and it's a hunk of junk. I tried it on 3 radios, and it squeals on all 3 unless I turn the mic gain almost all the way down. Audio reports have been terrible. I rewired the plug, and it didn't help. |

Not sure if it's the same mic, but I just picked up an Aries 2024 echo/roger beep mic.. Looks like the exact same mic as the Superstar DM-452, with the added bonus of the roger beep, which is switchable on/off on the back of the mic.
Anyhow, it's performance is awesome! Turned my General Sherman radio into an audio monster - plus the echo sounds great! Got several reports from folks thinking I was on a base! |

I just picked up a aries dm 452 it's on it's way stay away from the opek dm 452 I have one they are junk but the other dm 452's are ok |
