I was wondering if anybody had any experience with these radios I can get one still in the box for $50.00, and wanted to know if these radios were worth having. This rig has never been unpacked from the factory.

Thanks :

Wayne,
I have owned 2 of the Console V's.sounds like a good deal to me.they have a great sounding recieve and talk real good with a standard tug-8 D-104 or any of the turner desk mics.they do not easly lend themselves to channel expansion due to the pll layout.but for a stock radio, one of the best from it's time!

From what I understand, the Console V's are un-expandable. They do produce good audio and are capable of some pretty good power output. I've talked to a guy about 50 miles north of me who has 1 and it sounds nice. I've seen the radios and they are a little odd looking but that's a bonus in my book. It's always nice to have something that stands out on your shack bench!

I know I'm late to answer, but I really like my SBE Console V. It's not very loud on AM, but she's a beauty on SSB. I really dig the meters that SBE used. Very different and nice to watch.

SBE is an acronym for SideBand Engineering. They made SSB amateur radios for years.
