hey bruce! BACK TO THE LAND OF 60 DEGREES & RAIN! gotta love it!
everybody knows if there's dx on 27.025-skip is rollin'.
26.835 & 26.915 are the AM freeband's most popular freqs.
27.065-is that used/monitored by anybody for emergencies anymore? or is it just a spanish speaking skip freq?
we ALL know about 27.115, right?
27.155 WAS the SSB freq YEARS ago, & still hear some activity there, usually oldtimers from canada-ontario & east, & some 'cold-country'/NE US also.
27.185 the world famous trucker channel-you know, the guys who helped make cb what it is today! & of course, 26.735, 26.285, 25.835, 27.635, 28.085, 28.535, 28.985, 29.435, 29.885, 30.335 & any other freq that comes up when an export radio is on ch 19 & the band selector is switched.
27.365-405, though some areas it may start as low as .315, USUALLY LSB, but some groups, in their effort to emulate their ham heroes use USB.
27.555 USB is the so-called international 11m freeband dx calling freq. was pretty much territory of the old Alpha-Tango dx group, but a lot of non-USA skip stations call on that freq.
27.515 LSB once rivaled .555 USB for non-USA dx, but today seems mostly jamaica.
as for FM, heard great britain, or so we assumed, on a regular basis in early 90's in 26.300 range-called them with large amounts of wattage, but NEVER EVER made contact. unless their communications were well coded, or they were working split freqs, they sure seemed like regular cbers to us, judging by what they were talking about.
tom kneitel of the old SSB-network group put out a book years ago, tomcats cb handbook or something that listed freqs, but many of them were more territorial, rather then national, as is still the case today.
seeing as we use the apco digital trunk tracking system here, a $600 scanner is WAY BACK on the 'things to get' list. however, my dependable ole bearcat does scan the local fire depts during brush-fire season, marine & local ferry freqs, 6 meters, & those few souls who still have baby monitors & 49 mhz cordless phones. whoops!! did i say that?

49 mhz cordless phones are Part 15 devices and public domain. The newer cordless phone on higher freqs are private and cannot be eavesdropped on.
