depends on how hight each are. I personaly like the Maco.
look in the forum here for the artical on antenna performance and hight, I forget exactly where it is but someone on here can steer you to it.

Capt. Hook,
Theres a few things to look at here.
Imax 2000 easy to mount, easy to essemble.
Take Imax 2000 out of box, screw each section
together and your done.
Maco 5/8 takes alot more essembling and
gamma match needs adjusted correctly for
low SWR. Alittle harder to mount places.
The Maco 5/8 has a slight edge in performance
over the Imax 2000.
So, if you don't mind doing some essembling,
and your mounting place can handle the
9ft radials sticking out, then, go with
the Maco 5/8.
If you want ease, then the Imax 2000 is
your baby. Hope this helps.

jay in the mojave says his I10K is the best . of course for $300 you could put up 3 maco 5000's, 4 maco v5/8's, or 4 imax 2000's. or 2 v5/8's & 2 i2000's. or 1 of each & have some $$ leftover to take the installation crew to mcdonalds. of course they'll then weigh too much & come crashing through the roof of the next antenna installation.
& if that didn't help you capt hook, follow road warriors advice. he's 100% correct. my maco has been up for over 15 years... |

Hmmm I sure don't want the top of my house to look like a porkiepines back that's for sure. the 10 k is out .and if it;s not to much trouble maybe the 5/8 is my best bet. 30' should be high enough you think thank you Capt Hook |

at 15' to the feedpoint(before i raised it recently), & with 100 watts or less SSB & 40 watts or less AM, my maco V5/8 has talked EVERYWHERE! all 50 states, all of canada except the 'new' province of nunavut, australia, new zealand,all of central & south america, at least 10 african countries, close to 40 present & gone european countries, countless islands, and who knows what i didn't hear!
never used an imax 2000 myself, just love my maco v5/8, either way-GO FOR THE 5/8 WAVE ANTENNA!!! |

The lower your antenna is to the ground
the higher the angle of radiation will be.
Through expermenting with the Maco 5/8
and Imax 2000 i have found 36 ft from
ground to feedpoint (bottom of antenna) or
higher to be the best in performance for local
talking and DX talking.
