I want to cut one of my 102" stainless whips down to be used on 6 Meters. I am interested in DXing in the 50.1 to 50.3 mhz area on SSB. The radio will be an RCI 5054DX-100. The whip will be mounted on to a heavy spring and then on to what ever mounting bracket I decide on. All of this will then be mounted on to a Jeep Cherokee. My math and antenna calculators come up with 54" but I don't know if this takes the length of the spring into account or if it matters. I don't have the radio or my call sign yet but hope to have both in the next few days. Thanks

that includes the spring THIS IS WHAT I WOULD DO ...... cut a wire and put it in the top of the spring so you can measure SWR BEFORE you cut that wip if the wire shows your on 50.1-.3 then cut that wip!
