I just bought a brand new 4800 and it acts up especially when the vehicle is warm (80 deg or so) the radio stops working and the numbers on the digital display start counting .
I have seen this with other rigs and usually it is just one band segment, but this is every selected band. Any experts with advice ? (please dont tell me to junk it !)

i'm no expert, but that leaves my choice for advise out!
seriously, do the #'s on the display start 'counting' when you key it up, or just when it's sitting in rcv mode? & how far do they move? what do you mean by radio stops working? need some more details 1st

Actually when I power it up, the numbers start counting, and the radio itself doenst receive, no white noise or static.

Send it back for warranty work. The 4800 is one of the most reliable rigs made

Agreed, by all means send it back with everything that came with it, including the box and a copy of the invoice. Without a doubt you will be sent another new one. Save the original invoice.

Without a doubt return it. I own a brand new 4800 and have had no problems at all. Just get a replacement.

Is there an e-mail to Connex to contact them, I have my books at home, I bought this new at a local truck stops, CB shop.
I dont recall a web address to them. I know Copper only does warranty work for rigs they sell unless I am mistaken.

I would take it back to the shop who sold it to you then. Most shops have a 30 day warranty. Especially if they convert or tune it. Hopefully its not too late. Dont know if connex has a website or email addy. Good luck.

Well thats the problem, when I got it, the CB shop had me sign a statement all Warranty work
must be done thru the Manufacturer.

And my 30 day return period expired last week.

I did see in another post to make sure (J-2) connector is properly seated. Mebbe that will fix it, I hate to send a radio to Taiwan if I
can help it !

Yes, but you had the problem before your 30 days was up. The shop might be able to get your radio repaired under warranty still. Might be that he does the work and gets paid by the company.

Hotwire, Do you know what was done to convert your 4800 w/echo. I have one that I havent been able to find the correct mod to convert it (the mod for old one doesn't work).
