Anyone used one of these? I just bought one and have to find someone to help me put it up on my tower. Very big dual polarity 8 element beam. I just hope it's worth all the trouble and money.

YES, it will work good for you and is
worth the money.
Take your time assembling it and get all
the measurements correct and it will sing.
I drilled holes in my PLASTIC CAPS to let
water drain out of elements. (Just the
BOTTOM radial CAPS on Verticle elements).
Some people just leave those ones off. But,
wind blowing across them could cause howling.

Thank you road warrior. The instructions suggested to put 1/4" plastic rope through all the elements to cut down on vibration from the wind. I went ahead and did that. It says it will increase the life of the antenna.

How did you get yours up on your tower? I think I'm going to rent a boom lift. I see you have a 2995 DX. I have the same one.

My tower has a hinge plate on it. I
leaned tower towards ground on an
angle. I already had pipe hooked into
rotor. We just sat beam on pipe and tightened
boom plate brakets. Standing on 10 ft step ladders.

I had put up a 4x4 cross and my tower use to lay over until number of years ago and now a 12 x 20 deck is in front of it, my tower is only a 30 footer and I rented a Genie ts 34 tow behind
high reach for 190.00 over a weekend. I clamped a Jin pole to the basket and raised me and the beam up to the tower, Genie also has a 50 footer tow behind.  |

I would think the weight of the tower coming down on a hinge would be too much to handle. Wouldn't it take alot of people to handle that?
By the way, I got my shooting star up and I've been shooting alot of skip from out east like the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida, and New York.
Direction of skip must be seasonal.

Mine is a heavy-duty homemade hinge
plate system. I don't care for the
store bought ones, to me they are not
made well.
I pull my tower up & down with a winch.

For a hinge plate: First of all have a
nice size chunk of concrete in the ground.
Enough so it don't pull out of ground
when tower goes up or down.
Have someone build a strong hinge-plate.
Rig a winching system up for pulling it
up and down. I have a worm gear winch.
I can pull my tower up and down by myself.
If i feel like testing a different antenna
i just winch it down, pull antenna off,
put other antenna on, and winch it back
up.
