Hey guys,

Today while out doing the yard sale thing with my better half, at one place we stopped this old guy had a box of 4 cb radios and some other stuff. He sold the whole box to me for $1.00. Anyway, to make a long story short, one of the radios is a Pace 223 23 channel. The microphone is wired directly to the radio , is OD green in color, and is made by Astatic, with the Pace logo on the front. I cannot find any info on this radio except for some crystal mixing info. Unfortunetly, it does not power up. It only has one wire coming out the back, a red one, + i assume. I opened it up and its real clean inside. I can't see where the negative wire was. I can see where one should be but its clean, no old solder or anything. There are also two wires inside that someone has cut. A large green one and a small green one (diff. shade of green). NOW, there are no wires going to the speaker, but you can tell where wires used to be.
OK, now.. the larger of the two green wires goes to what looks like a transformer or something located in the left back corner of the board. I dont think this is one of the speaker wires. Anyway.. guess i made this long enough... just curious if anyone like Bruce, knows anything about this radio or maybe has a schematic.
Thanks for yal's time.....

One red wire coming from the back? You may need to attach your own black negative wire to the back of the radio chassis. I have an old pace that is the same way.

Thanks Hotwire, I already tried attaching a neg wire. Still didn't work. I'm suspecting one of the wires that was cut inside is the problem. This radio is probably not worth the effort to repair. Since I can't seem to find much info on it, I am suspecting it is either a rare model, or one that wasn't worth a darn, probably the later.

Hotwire, oh how I do love yard sales. Sounds like you made a great haul on that one. One mans trash......

Keith, there was a RS 418 that works, there is a segment out in the LED channel display though.

a Cobra 77x that works with a Numark power mic attached.

A Sears SSB 23 channel that powers up and transmitted a couple times but it has issues unfortunatly.

There is a RS power mic, a Turner Roadking 50 that will require a REAL good cleaning, don't know if it works or not. Another generic replacement mic.
Two antennas, one trunk lip mount that was missing the top whip, and a gutter mounted that's complete.

There was also an 8 channel Regency crystal scanner that has issues. It does power up but both volume and squelch pots need replacing. Not really worth fixing but i'll probably tinker with it just for fun.

And some other junk not worth mentioning.
