I plan on putting a maco 1030 or 104 up and also want to mount a omni above that antenna. I have a imax but would rather put my maco v up but want to know how high above the beam it would need to be, will the ground radials interfear with anything. I heard 8ft + the radials need to be a certain way.
Can someone enlighten me.

Mine is 1 foot above my horizontal 3 element and its a I max 2000 NO PROBLEMO !! |

I would put the Imax up. Just mount the Imax as close to the boom as possible, if the beam is going to be horizontal. The beam will act as a ground plane for the Imax. If you're thinkin of putting up the Maco 5/8, I hope you have a thrust bearing anad a heavy duty rotor. The Maco 5/8 will need to be 4-8' above the boom. Thats alot of mast pipe which will result in a lot weight and stress on the rotor.

I was thinking of useing a alliance HD 73-1 and I have a Yaesu GS-050 Thrust bearing.
Does that sound feasible?

Go Imax. It will be a better setup for you. The beam and the groundplanes on the Maco will react with each other if they are close. I would not want it below 10' |

The Alliance is a good rotor. I used the Alliance HD 73-1 when I had my beam up. It worked great! That thrust bearing should be fine.
How high are you putting the ant? |

I plan to get the beam antenna at or a little above 36ft. The tower is the same design as rohn 25 but a little bigger, not as big as rohn 45.
It will be bracketted at 14ft and concreted 30in. deep.
So the imax would be better for this endever even though I like my maco v better?
OH, one of the tower sections has a very slight bend about 6in. down at end that goes in the other section, is it safe to heat it and bend it straight or will this affect the strength?

How high is your tower? what kind is it? that is a maco 103 and imax correct?

Ther tower is 50' of Rohn 25G, and yes that's a Maco 103, with an A99 mounted about 2" above the boom. It worked very well. Worked stations all over the US and abroad with this setup. |

431, hows it do local tx with the 103's? what i mean is, is it really directional more so than having them vertical? |
