A friend of mine is thinking about getting a Uniden PC68LTW and i would like to know if it is a good radio. He did want to get a Cobra 25 with weather band and Nightwatch but sence they don't make a model like that without that awful Soundtracker he is looking at the Uniden version of the 25WXNWST.

The Uniden with a good tuneup will make a fine cb. It will be loud. The audio quality is clear at unbelievable volumes for such a cheap radio. Has good ears too.

Love the one I have. Same as the PC68XL except has the illuminated knob surrounds and weather channels with alert. Did a cap/res mod on mine and swing REAL nice with booming audio...no power mic required and NO clipped limiter.
DK2 swing to 20!(techs meter said 27 but I'll be more realistic..:-)) Have since retired it from the mobile for a Grant but IS a nice basic AM rig.
Tell your buddy to go for it if AM is all he wants.

It's not all he wants,It's all he can afford.:-)
I think he'll be happy with that radio.I had heard that the Dynamic Squelch System was just like the Soundtracker and just as bad.Is that true?

I use the dynamic squelch on mine when talking local to cut all trash -- when talking distance ,I TURN IT OFF AND JUST USE IT LIKE OTHER RADIOS . jUST AN OPTION , DON,T HAVE TO USE IT .

Well thats the way the Soundtracker is and i heard people say that if you have soundtracker on everything gets messed up and if you turn it off you can't hear a thing. If that's not the case with the Uniden rig that's great.
