I asked this in the "Ask the Techs", Radios Mobile, section about 2 1/2 weeks ago and have not received any type of answer. I would like to know if it is possible to reboot the CPU like I can on all of my scanners clearing the memory and resetting everything back to "as new". I am not having any problems with my 5054 at this time. Would like to have the information incase it locks up or sometimes I just like to clean house and start over.

Alleycat,
I suppose you could remove the power to the radio and the battery inside to re-boot one but we have never had to re-boot our 5054DX 100.
If the back up battery inside goes dead you just install a new battery and re-apply power and re-program it.
To clean house just re-program it to store what frequencies you want.
And never had anything lock up.

Maybe there are some key combinations that you can reset the radio back to the factory defaults.
Try E-mailing Ranger at: techsupport@rangerusa.com I think that e-mail is the only way to get tech support from them. |

the ar3500 would lockup if you over-scanned the boundaries that were programmed into it, sometimes it would lockup from htting too many functions too quickly. it would just STOP where it was. hitting buttons got NO response. 1st try shutting it off & unplugging constant DC(from a car battery) if so equipped. 2nd try was to disconnect memory battery. that always did the trick, for the ar3500 at least. |

Thanks all for the info. What I am hoping for is what Slugo writes. I like to just clean out the memory and reset to factory defaults once in a while. I will e-mail Ranger and see what they have to say. They have been great answering the few questions I've had so far. I don't want to have to open the case just to clean house once in a while. Still it's good info. to have about the internal battery.
