I have a new connex 3300 hp and the receive is a little poor.Around town it works ok but unless the skip is really strong i cant hear any long distant signals.Even if i use the pre amp it still not much better. Is there somthing inside the radio that can be tuned for better receive performance? And no my antenna(mobile)setup is not the problem,i have many other radios that work great with the same antenna and coax.

Have you tried to align the receiver yet? There is a receiver mod you can do, but you need to put it on a switch cause close/strong stations will overload your receivers front end. Email me and I'll try to help you farther...
