I just bought a cobra 29,,brand new out of the box... i went ahead and did the power mods,,, i cut the limiter and adjusted L14.. i also jumped a resistor across the pa and external speaker jack for talkback.... when i hooked up my radio everything worked fine...... i hit the mike and heard myself talking on the talkback...but i was not putting out any power.....my s/rf meter was not moving and when i hooked it up to the meters it was not showing any power when i keyed up or when i talked...anyone got a clue whats going on.

sounds like it is time to find a good tech with some good equipment as you may have shorted something out when doing mods.

Did radio work before you did the mods and which mods did you do? Are all the switches in the right position and does it still receive?

I never used the radio before i did the mods so i couldn't say for sure..... yes it does still recieve i have changed the final already and that did not help it.. i dont believe that the mods are what caused the problem i dont believe it would have worked period i have done these mods probably 30 times and never had any trouble i mean all i did was turn out L14 adjust VR4 for modulation and cut the limiter

I'm baffled. Did any of your mods. have anything to do with the PA circuit? Only a thought that came to me. And you said you put everything back to stock.

The last Cobra I bought out of the box had no TX and I had to return it for a replacement. I would suggest checking the radio's vitals before doing any mods in the future. Kind of late now for a warranty!
