I really want the best possible (lowest loss and durable) splice between 7/8 Heliax and RG-218 and the like. Have heard of some cablewave splicing kits and also those expensive connector ends for the 7/8 stuff. I also know a few guys who just soldier, tape and silicone the connection. Any help on this topic is appreciated.

They have propriatory connectors for hardline. Just get one and use a barrel connector to a pl-259 on the end of the coax..... don't splice.
