To any owners of the 150GTL: How are the ears? Do they compare to Cobra 148 GTL's or Magnum S-9's?

Thanks for the quick reply. Well, if the ears aren't as good maybe it will do good enough. With time, I've come to like the receive on my Galaxy 95T. While not the best, it does a good job.

Mike get near some good pulse noise and tweak the NB coil you'll be amazed at how quiet you can get that beast, mine was off 1 1/2 turns down.An electric drill with the trigger locked can make a lot of noise.Bigbob

I don't normally operate on AM so it's difficult for me to comment on the receiver other than to say it seemed okay the little I used it. I guess I'll have to take it back out of the box and compare it to my Grant on AM - if the Grant even works on AM - I wouldn't know.

Looking at the schematic for the Cobra 150 GTL DX there are two filters in series at 10.695 MHz, so it should have decent adjacent channel rejection. I guess I'll find out as I use it more.

I'll also have to clear off my desk so I can get to my station monitor and adjust the AMC so I can evaluate the tranmit audio of the radio. I've read about some issues folks have been having with the audio dropping off in mid transmit, but that's been attributed to just cranking the modulation up without correctly adjusting it to proper levels on an oscilloscope. Again, I guess I'll find out with some use.

I feel this radio is getting a bad rap because it's not like the normal AM/FM rigs. Maybe it's because techs can't suggest the normal pocket enhancing modifications or because "Joe Tech" can't "tune it up" with fingernail clippers like they do every other CB - I don't know.

Not enough kickback in the sales departments. Who really knows how good these are until they are out for awhile.

Mikefromms,

It will be interesting to hear how the 200's are working now with the HF-50-12 finals (same as 454 / 2290 finals) which should be putting out around 100W pep.

Mobile...been running it for around a month now.

Great radio. Knobs and stuff aren't like an old CObra 29 or nuthin..my only complaint

but the radio itself performs excellent.

I was going to buy the S-9 which would still be my first choice, but got a good deal on the Omega. I do like the presets and memory on the omega.

Mikefromms,

Using the S-45 tonight hooked up instantly with CEF #302/RI, 336 / Canada / 612 / TX and CEF #376 / NY on AM

And #376 / NY (Mobile), 541 / RI (Mobile} and about 8 or 9 Non CEF members.

We run our Omega Force S-45 BOTH as a Base on the Sunday CEF nets and thru the week and as a Mobile.

The S-45 (barefoot) just runs with the BIG DOGS!

If the transmit or audio is not that low below my 95T I may run the Omega in the house because of the memory and other functions. We'll see. Either way, I've ordered one. Good to be a BiG DoG.
