a friend thinks the pills may be bad and shorting and causing it to heat up fast
I did not key the mic
it got hot In under 5 min

replace the voltage regulators.

check out the search option to the left, and search for 2950 (low power version) or 2970.
or try 2950 mods.
there is a lot of info on this radio on this site.

were u running it off a power supply an if so it might have been to small of one..

I've heard of the amplifier on the 2970 being disconnected and running it like a 2950, I don't know how this is done and the information is hearsay. Also the same hearsay with the 2990 and like radios with the in radio amp., Then the radio can be run into an amp. as though it was a 2950.

There is a 2 wire plug to the left of the bias board. 1 brown 1 black wire. One of these is the switch wire. Brown one I think. I put a switch on my Turbo and 2970

OK IT WAS BAD PILLS JUST HAD IT FIXED WORKS GREAT
SCREWDRIVER DID GREAT JOB ON IT
