Hi, I recently got an old Taiwan/Uniden made Cobra
140gtl. It works fine untill it's been on awhile,
esp. in TX mode. Then it will just start TXing a lot
of scratchy noise, AM or SSB, esp noted on SSB, and
very occasionally, possibly a separate problem, it
gets sharp loud crack noises on RX. No mods except
possibly a little power. Volume/switch was changed
and I found a power wire corroding and volume wires not soldered or well connected. Any ideas?
Also, RX continues to work throughout these problems.
Thanks, and nice forums,
lesadek

Not to sound overly simple but before diving in too deep..did you try another mic yet?

No, I don't have another like it.
I could try cleaning the switch or replacing.

Thanks
