i looking for a new mobil radio that can put out some watts and has a frec counter and can be modified with a bunch of chanels i have a cobra 148gtl later model and i love it just want one for the gril friends car dont worrie she knows how to ues radios as good as i do and if i bought the vr9000 could a garage teck like me do the mod from 10 to 11 metters my self iv done all of the mods to my 148 that i could get and ill tell you what that radio blows some serioes smoke and want one that can do the same

The VR9000 is easliy converted by desoldering a few resistors on the solder side of the board. If you have ever done a SS3900, it's a very similar to that.

The VR9000 is a dual final radio,it is very simple to use. Basically turn it on and thats it,on the PC side of the board you will find 4-5 little resistors, unsolder them from the board and that will convert it to 11 meter.Then go into the the subscriber preview section and it has the NPC-RC conversion listed in full detail with pictures. It is a great mod and will make your radios sound great. Make sure you have VR14 turned wide open then back it off just a hair so you don`t overdrive the modulation.And when you do the mod let the forum know if VR16 changes your low power setting, a few of us have had trouble with that.
