There is a CB shop at the truckstop that said it would cost me 120 bucks to have them installed!
I said no thanks. Now I see you can buy the radio already that way also. Bums me out. Should have waited I quess.

Vanillagorilla,

Yes you can purchase them.

There are 3 different sizes for the different sizes of control knob shafts used in different radios.

They come in RED / BLUE and GREEN.

Each Nitro Knob needs to be wired / connected inside the radio.

According to the manufacturer the going rate for a Tech to install a complete set is around $100.00 to $150.00.

Very time consuming when you figure you need to dissemble the radio to install them.

And then like with the S-9 that means wiring 8 control knobs (16) Extra Wires (Pos & Neg) inside the radio.

You will also need to find a GOOD 12 to 14 volt power source as EACH Light Ring can draw upwards of 45mA.

From the e-mail and instructions I received from The Manufacturer:

Only Qualified technicians / persons should attempt installation!

Each Nitro-Knob kit includes everyting a dealer needs to replace One radio knob.
A kit includes 1 LED Light Ring, 1 Nitro-Knob, installation instructions and accessories.

And with the price of the individual knobs and then installing them yourself I would suggest just buying the S-9 Nitro Express from Copper and save some bucks and time.

OHHHHHHHHHHH, did I forget to mention the Heat Shrink tubing and locktite or other electronics aproved adhesive needed?

Hope this info helps,

Lon

Yea, I've seen the aftermarket ones EVERYwhere but was wondering if the Magnum ones were a "Magnum Exclusive".
Good thing nobody said "will increase db by 25%" because I'd have to get them.....map light will work fine in the dark for me. :-) I'd bet the S-6 will have them as an option too? Thinking about a brandy new S-6 for the mobile and setting the "9" up in the base.

Thanks

Vanillagorilla,

Yes, there is a Limited Edition / Production of the Magnum Nitro Express Radios in both the Magnum S-6 and Magnum S-9 Radios.

The Nitro Knobs are not Manufactured or Imported or Distributed by RF Limited / Magnum International.

I was at the TA on I-81 in Pennsyvania. The Radio was lit up blue as well as the Meter reader. At night it would really light up the bunk of the truck.

$100.00 or more?????????? Not at this station, if it doesn't improve the performance of the radio.
